Roger Avary’s story is forever intertwined with Quentin Tarantino’s, but Avary is his own man and an extraordinary talent to be sure. Avary made a splash in 1993 with his debut film Killing Zoe, which he wrote and directed. Then Avary and Killing Zoe executive producer Tarantino made an even bigger splash with Pulp Fiction, which they co-wrote. The two films proved to be tremendously.

Directed by Roger Avary. With Eric Stoltz, Julie Delpy, Martin Raymond, Eric Pascal Chaltiel. The cab driver sets American Zed up with Zoe in his Paris hotel. Despite FFR1000 charged, she's an art student with day jobs e.g. bank. Safecracker Zed meets his junkie friend after 11 years to rob a bank.

Lucky Day feels like a direct-to-video movie from the mid-’90s—one that came on the heels of Pulp Fiction that turned its focus on the low-life gangsters of the world doing bad and violent things for the fun of it. It’s fitting, then, that Lucky Day is written and directed by Roger Avary, who had a hand in Pulp Fiction and is now making a movie that feels like it missed the point.
